Identity Verification

At Wikipedia we have a system for protecting an account that allows a person to demonstrate real world identity by publishing a secure hash of a string or file of identifying information. When the file or string is produced to an administrator, the admin can verify the validity of the information using the hash and then the information can be connected to the real life person who provided the verified file or string. Obviously, this would only be done in extreme circumstances as the use of the system means a new one is required.

As I said there, should it ever be needed, as of this date and time 2025-07-13 12:23 UTC, I can provide the information file that is verifiable with this hash.

We use Proton for our email, so if you have a Proton email address, you can automatically send encrypted communication to either of us. Should anyone need to send secure communication outside Proton, here is my PGP public key.
